§

Web authors are obligated to disclose "their connection, if any, with the advertisers; and also reveal the receipt of free products and/or payments from the advertisers."  Since GrayFoxImages.com does not accept advertising this rule apparently does not apply. Nevertheless we are including a disclosure statement to fully state our relationship with the manufactureres and merchants of the photography gear and software mentioned on this site.

In a word: none!

We do at times provide comments on gear that we own and photography software that we use. However, this commentary strictly reflects our personal experiences as a photographer who buys gear and other accouterments "over the counter" from the usual merchants without any arrangement, financial or otherwise, with any manufacturer or merchant.

Non-Commercial

Gray Fox Images is not a commercial site.  As stated above, we do not accept advertising.  Nor do we endorse for profit or compensation any product we own or discuss or any web site we link to.  Nor do we endorse for profit or compensation any product offered for sale by any site or business linked to or referenced herein.  All material presented herein simply reflect our experiences, our opinions and the things that we have found useful for our photographic pursuits.  While some linked sites do offer products for sale, we include such sites strictly because they provide useful industry news, gear reviews, forums, technical articles and other similar material of interest.  Or because they provide goods and services we have found useful in our photography.  Note that we do, however, render opinions regarding the utility and quality of certain products that we own, have owned or are considering for purchase or use.

Images in the Gray Fox Images Portfolio are not available for purchase.  For me, photography is a hobby and a source of personal enjoyment. For that reason, portfolio photos are not offered for sale to the public.  On the other hand we do wish to support education and research, particularly as it relates to nature and wildlife preservation, conservation, environmental sustainability, public awareness and like purposes.  As a result, images in the Nature Portfolio may be made available at no cost to qualifying organizations on a one-time right-to-use basis for educational or scientific research purposes.    A full image rights statement may be found hereContact me if you are interested in use of an image for a related purpose.

Notes on Site Construction

The following is provided for informational purposes and does not constitute an endorsement of any product but rather simply describes personal choices; many equivalent products could be used with success..  They were bought in the usual manner, without any compensation or consideration from the sellers thereof.

This site is built using a variety of tools. The primary web authoring editor is Microsoft Expression Web -- a product that is no longer offered for sale or supported.  It is, however, available as a free download, and as such remains a useful, if no longer state-of-the-art tool.  The principal RAW conversion editor is Phase One's Capture One Pro.  After editing, images are converted to web-sized JPEGs and run through a set of actions in a legacy version of Photoshop to add drop shadows.  They are then processed via customized web page templates for exhibit on the site.  These templates have been extensively modified with site specific attributes via added HTML code.

The online site file structure is maintained with Filezilla. Additional tools are used for noise reduction, sharpening, HDR, panoramas and VR processing.  These tools, as well as the ones mentioned above, have varied over the years and will undoubtedly do so in the future.  Currently, we use NeatImage, Topaz DeNoise AI and Sharpen AI, Photomatix HDR, Aurora HDR, PTGui and Panot2VR.
